Top US Democratic Party presidential candidate, Sen. Kamala Harris, has finally reacted to the arrest of actor, Jussie Smolett, over allegations he orchestrated his own hate crime attack in order to increase his salary at hit TV series, Empire. Smolett, three weeks ago, initially told police he was attacked by two masked men as he was walking home from a Subway sandwich shop at around 2 a.m on Jan. 29. The actor, who is black and gay, said the masked men beat him, made derogatory comments and yelled "This is MAGA country" — an apparent reference to President Donald Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again" — before fleeing. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is considering shifting the date of this year’s examination, an official has said. This development comes as an effect of the postponed 2019 general election. The polls were to open on February 16 with the presidential and parliamentary elections until the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced a shift. The 2019 presidential election will now hold on February 23 while the state elections will also hold a week later on March 9. This year, the sale or registration forms to all candidates (UTME/DE) including those outside Nigeria, started January 10 and will end February 21. The examination is expected to begin on March 16 and end on 23 at JAMB’s computer-based test centres nationwide. Jussie Smollett's mugshot has been released after he was arrested for staging an attack on himself and filing a false police report. The Empire actor was considered a victim after he stated that he was attacked by two men in what was being referred to as a homophobic attack and a hate crime. But Jussie soon turned from victim to a criminal and police officers explained how they came to doubt Smollett's story. In a news conference, the Police Superintendent expressed his outrage at Jussie Smollett for allegedly betraying the African American and LGBT communities to further his career in a "publicity stunt."  The Superintendent said Smollett created the fake attack because "he was dissatisfied with his salary." The Superintendent also said the wounds on Jussie were most likely self-inflicted. Smollett was arrested by the Chicago Police Department for staging an attack on himself and filing a false police report. Reacting to the new development, President Trump tweeted, ' what about MAGA and the tens of millions of people you insulted with your racist and dangerous comments!?. When the attack was first reported, Jussie Smollett told Police that his attackers wore the MAGA (Make America Great Again) hats which sparked a conversation attacking President Trump and his followers. Egyptian authorities have executed nine men convicted for the 2015 killing of the country’s attorney-general, Hisham Barakat. According to Egyptian newspaper., El Watan, the men were among a group of 28 who were sentenced to death in the case in 2017. Barakat was killed in a car bomb attack on his convoy in the capital, Cairo.   Egypt blamed the Muslim Brotherhood and Gaza-based Hamas militants for the operation. Both groups denied having a role.  Rights group Amnesty International had appealed on Tuesday for authorities to halt the executions, citing testimony by the defendants that they had been secretly detained and tortured into confessing. El Watan newspaper said the executions were carried out on Wednesday morning. The newspapers gave the names of the executed as Ahmad Taha, Abu Alqasim Ahmed, Ahmed Jamal Hijazi, Mahmoud Al Ahmadi, Abu Bakr Al Sayed, Abdul Rahman Sulaiman, Ahmed Mohammed, Ahmed Mahrous Sayed and Islam Mohammed. The Russian parliament has voted to ban soldiers from using smartphones while on duty, after their social media use raised issues of national security.   The bill forbids military personnel from using a phone with the ability to take pictures, record videos and access the internet. Soldiers also cannot write about the military or talk to journalists. More than 400 of 450 lawmakers in Russia's lower house of parliament, the Duma, backed the law on Tuesday. Phones with basic calling and messaging facilities could still be used, but tablets and laptops would also subject to the new ban. Soldiers' social media data has allowed open-source journalism sites like Bellingcat to expose secret military activity by Russian forces, sometimes in real time. The bill must now be considered by the upper house of parliament, the Federation Council, before being signed into law by President Vladimir Putin. The  Cook County state's attorney  has recused herself from the investigation surrounding  Jussie Smollett , as Chicago police continue to dig into the  alleged hate crime attack  the actor claims occurred last month. State's Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself on Tuesday, but it was not immediately clear why. First Assistant State's Attorney Joseph Magats will take over the case as acting state's attorney, Reporters has learned. Reporters recusal came as the Chicago Police Department rejected a tip the bureau received earlier Tuesday regarding the "Empire" actor's case. Anthony Guglielmi, chief communications officer for the department, tweeted that the tip alleging that Smollett was spotted in an elevator in his building with two men who were initially considered suspects was "unfounded as it was not supported by video evidence obtained by detectives." Facebook needs far stricter regulation, with tough and urgent action necessary to end the spread of disinformation on its platform, MPs have said. A Commons committee has concluded  that the firm's founder Mark Zuckerberg failed to show "leadership or personal responsibility" over fake news. Untrue stories from foreign powers were risking the UK's democracy, they said. Facebook welcomed the digital select committee's report and said it would be open to "meaningful regulation". MPs said that what was needed to deal with the proliferation of disinformation online and the misuse of personal data was a "radical shift in the balance of power between social media platforms and the people". The inquiry into fake news, which lasted more than a year, was conducted by the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, with much of the evidence focusing on the business practices of Facebook before and after the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

50 Cent, the rapper best known for the hit song "In da Club," is reportedly considering legal action after it was reported that an NYDP   commander allegedly told officers to "shoot" the rapper on the spot, reports said. The comments were allegedly made by Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez during a roll call over the summer. The rapper was scheduled to watch police officers who have “beef with each other duke it out” at an event in the Bronx,  Gonzalez allegedly said, "Shoot him on sight."
